Your Job Must be so Fun!

I try to remember that every time I'm in heels and chasing down a bus or limo. Nothing like smelling that exhaust for 20 minutes waiting on your clients to show up. Or when I get handed some one's used cocktail napkin at an event. Yes, I can take that gum for you too.--EPD J

Don't get it wrong, we love our job: planning events, learning about new trends and maintaining relationships between our client and their guests. However the term "event planner" automatically brings up a vision of J.Lo, perfectly coiffed, not a drop of sweat in sight and of course wearing that Britney Spear's style headset. In reality our job requires us to be at a desk (and gasp! in a cubicle) about 90% of the time, to get to that J.Lo. Headset-wearing moment, you have to actually plan the event. We call vendors, secure estimates and pick the best people for the event, whether it’s a wedding, corporate dinner or even a party. The event planning stage (still in the cubical) can be fun looking up new trends, researching new ingredients in your area and sharing ideas with other event professionals!
